Our first meeting of the school year was this past Tuesday. We had a wonderful turnout of parents and are excited about this coming year. The PSO Board worked hard over the summer to prepare the event and fundraising schedule as well as to plan the budget for the year. Principal Swindle shared an update and asked parents for feedback on a few things.  Below are the notes from the meeting. If you are interested in more details, check out the minutes here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1huz3nw4h7haiGqhBSvT7MISNY3XQSAJE

Principal's Updates: Jessica Swindle, Metzger’s Principal attended the meeting and provided the following information:
  • Mustang Monitors: The school would like to have volunteers, known as Mustang Monitors, help 7:45-8:15 am during morning drop off to help greet kids and guide them to the cafeteria. The goal is to increase the safety and positivity of the morning drop off experience. Stay tuned for more information in the school newsletter.
  • 5th Graders will be doing morning announcements this year.
  • Each teacher will have a SeeSaw account that allows teachers to share classroom activities and information with parents. It also has a messaging feature allowing communication between parents and teachers. If you haven’t received information on how to sign up, talk to your teacher.
  • Principal Swindle shared how the school staff responded to the passing of Jennifer Kelsey. We discussed there will be a memorial ceremony in several weeks and the Cub Scouts are working on a memorial bench to commemorate her life. A Maple tree may be donated and will be planted on school grounds in her memory. More details on the ceremony to come.

  • Teacher Conferences: The school is working on the scheduling of Teacher Conferences to ensure 100% of children and parents have a conference with their teacher. Teachers are working flexible hours in order to accommodate families and accommodate families who will not be here during the week of Thanksgiving.
